NATO Scent Carousel

The NATO carousel comes in two basic sizes 12 or 18 arms initially designed for the MOD working dogs. Now most commonly used by the RAF and UKBA, carrying 50% more arms gives the dog more choices, proving statistically the dog’s ability to find the target while desensitising interferants.

NATO scent pots are specially designed to accept home office explosive sets and HM endorsed EDD training kits. They will also accept any other substances for the purpose of scent detection work. They fit all our range of carousels and floor stands with the exception of the compact carousel.

They are made from stainless steel and are sterilisable in any autoclave or standard dishwasher.

The Scent pot has a capacity of 700mlts and accepts our fully perforated or variable scent lid from either type carousel or ID stand

The fully perforated lid contains 90 holes allowing only 8% exposure to escaping vapour. This is ideal for basic imprint training and desensitising.

The scent lid is designed to fit the universal scent pot and contains a square locating peg with a detent that retains the lid to the arm of the NATO carousel.

Made from stainless steel these lids can be sterilised in an autoclave or standard dishwasher.

Scent lids can be interchangeable with variable types from any other NATO carousels.

The variable lid contains 10 holes allowing progressive variation of escaping vapour. This achieved by closing each hole off independently via a small control lever.

These scent lids offer a progression from the perforated lid which has a static 8% perforation. With the variable you can shut down the amount of escaping vapour. Hole 1= 0.01%, 2=0.2%, 3=0.25%, 4=0.35%, 5=0.45%, 6=0.50%, 7=0.60%, 8=0.70%, 9=0.80%, 10=0.90%.

Even with no holes exposed the Dog will still indicate, but you can be sure the Dog is indicating on some very small vapours and you have done your training well!

The variable scent lid is designed to fit the universal scent pot and NATO carousel only. They are made from stainless steel and can be sterilised in an autoclave or standard dishwasher.

Baffle plates are an ideal extra for your carousel and will slow the search interrogation and help focus. They will also encourage the dog to use both nostrils as the head goes between the baffle plates.

These are particularly good for the detection of small scents such as biomedical.

Baffle plates can be fitted to either the portable or NATO carousels.

These NATO chock stands uses the same retention system as the NATO carousel. They are designed to hold the NATO scent lids (with pegs) in place and stop removal.

Using this system allows the scent lids to be used universally between carousel and floor stands, without the need for different lids.

They are made from heavy gauge stainless steel and hold the scent pot firmly on the floor. This allows the scent pots to be spaced in linear or random patterns to create various search patterns.

Easy to clean and sterilise in a dishwasher.

Scent pot dividers fit perfectly into our standard scent pots and allow you to place the target odour along side the reward for imprint training. Such as cut pieces of Kong or Tennis Ball whichever is the chosen toy or reward.

The individual compartments allow separate scent plumes to form within the pot and permeate through the lid.

Scent pot dividers may also be used to create distractions more aligned with operational searches. If you examine postal packaging which may contain cardboard, polythene, sellotape, polystyrene etc. Each one of these materials may be placed separately withing the carousel and interrogated, but when small pieces are cut and placed within the dividers a cocktail of odours is created similar to that of the packaging itself.

Scent pot dividers fit all our range of scent pots fitted to either the portable carousels, NATO carousels, linear stands, and NCTAS Floor stands.

These magnetic compact scent hides are much smaller and easy to hide compared to the larger magnetic scent boxes and present a more olfactory based search, as dogs soon learn to cheat if they can see bulky boxes.

They are billet machined from aircraft-grade aluminium and hard anodised against corrosion and contamination.

They come in two different styles Fully Perforated and Variable Release. Giving you an option to control the odour depending upon strength. We can also engrave them to identify the material and prevent cross-contamination.

These boxes are a clever design and can be supplied with a magnetic stainless hanging kit. This allows you to hang the boxes onto other materials, such as wood, ceramics, plastics, glass and fabrics. This gives you a far wider scope to hide these boxes in numerous situations.

The compact scent box is designed to fit inside the NATO scent pot and makes it perfect for desensitising and imprinting. The scent hide can then be removed and taken into an operational environment.

Clamp arms were designed to hold sealed airtight boxes, ideal for training Prison Dogs to find sealed drugs, weapons, and phones hidden in sealed containers.

Within the same remit, these arms can hold any given container for detection of a variety of odours and not just limited to one particular service.

Clamp arms can be fitted to any of our carousels.

The REST filter arm was developed so filters could be used on a NATO and portable carousel, as an alternative to analysis stands. The arm is exactly the same as a REST analysis stand and the spacing between each arm could be arranged in the same pitch.

This system provides flexibility and versatility allowing trainers to have one carousel that could be used for gaseous, liquid or solid substances.

The changeover is extremely quick needing only one person saving time and money.
